The Benefits of Running Your Own Business By Tom Lindblom
Plenty of research that has been done on the subject of business ownership has dispelled the myth that greed is the real motivation for the increasing popularity of free enterprise. While money is one of the perks of owning your own business, there are several other benefits that you can enjoy when you run your own business.
You are Your Own Boss
When you run your own business, you are your own boss. No more do you have to go to anybody else for permission if you want to take the day off to go to your childs school play or even if you just want to goof off and go fishing.
All-round Flexibility
While you may need to work 24/7 when starting out in your own business, you will very soon be able to dictate your own working hours and set your own schedule around all those other important dates in your diary. Need to go coach the school baseball team in the morning and visit the dentist in the evening? No problem- you could do that and still catch up with your pending work late at night when the family is asleep.
Freedom to make your own choices
When you run your own business you are in the drivers seat. You get to choose your own team and your own working hours. You get to make your own policies and set your own targets and time lines. You even get to choose the color of your office walls.
Most important of all, running your own business means the fruits of your hard toil and labor come to you and you alone; it does not go into the pockets of some corporate head honcho.
